Sea Story / Umi Monogatari Japanese Machines
Unlike anime adaptations, Sea Story is an original Japanese pachinko franchise with a long machine history. English-language buyers will find it under Sea Story, Big Sea Story and the Japanese 海物語 or 大海物語 titles. Model number and frame matter far more than character art, since similar ocean graphics span multiple generations.

The exact edition matters
Recognize the machine before buying
The confirmed machine families include P Big Sea Story 5 (February 2023 · pachinko); Big Sea Story 5 Special (2024 · pachinko family); Earlier Umi Monogatari (classic pachinko). That model-level distinction matters more than the license name alone when comparing parts, controls and delivered cost.
There is an important difference between a licensed gaming machine and a listing merely mentioning the same series. We only recommend evaluating a complete machine once you can see the nameplate, full cabinet, controls and a powered demonstration. Import shipping, conversion components and seller return terms can exceed the apparent savings on an inexpensive listing.
Machine-generation comparison
Which Sea Story / Umi Monogatari machine are you buying?
These are documented machine families, not live product listings. Follow the individual tracked searches to investigate current inventory. Models within the same franchise are not automatically interchangeable.
Big Sea Story 5 Special
The special 25th-anniversary Sea Story family uses different product codes and game specifications. Verify the actual nameplate and outer frame before comparing offers.

Older Sea Story machines may be less expensive, but aging plastic, faded displays and unavailable conversion parts can increase total restoration cost.

Complete-cabinet buyer checklist
- Verify manufacturer and variant. Ask for the maker label, exact model code and clear photos of the real item rather than promotional renders.
- Prove operation. Request a single video showing boot-up, playing controls, sound, lighting and any visible defects; a static “powers on” claim is not enough.
- Confirm home-play hardware. Clarify physical-medal, coinless, smart-slot, ball-recirculation or other requirements. Do not assume accessories are included.
- Get the landed price. Confirm packaging, delivery to your postal code, any import charges, damage procedures and returns in writing.
- Check the seller's reputation. Review recent machine-related feedback, exact condition disclosures and whether they can supply replacement keys or controllers.
Questions collectors ask
Is Sea Story based on a separate anime series?
No. It is a long-running original Japanese pachinko franchise from SANYO.
What does Big Sea Story 5 mean?
It identifies a specific series generation; confirm the detailed model code and whether a listing is a full cabinet or only a playfield cell.
Are these current in-stock machines?
No inventory claim is made on this page. The model history is documented, but each sponsored eBay search must be checked for live stock, seller terms and exact machine contents.

Release and model information is cross-referenced to maker records or industry histories. Sources document a model's existence, not the availability of any current seller's unit.
